Bio
Dr Ashendri Pillay is a paediatric infectious diseases specialist, with over 13 years of experience as a paediatrician. She holds a fellowship from the College of Paediatricians in South Africa and a Certificate in Paediatric Infectious Diseases.
Her expertise includes the management of neonates and children living with HIV, tuberculosis, viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic infections. She is involved in the implementation and sustenance of antimicrobial stewardship programs and effective infection prevention and control measures to reduce the risk of health care associated infections and antimicrobial resistance in neonates and children.
Dr Pillay has a special interest is in the diagnosis and management of children and adolescents with inborn errors of immunity or primary immunodeficiencies, which may present as severe, persistent, unusual, recurrent, or inherited susceptibility to infections and can facilitate national and international access to molecular diagnostics.
