Special Interests
- Diagnosing and treating patients with cardiovascular pathologies. I specialise in interventional cardiology, performing advanced cardiac procedures, including single and multiple vessel stenting/bifurcation lesions, rotablation of calcified vessels, single/dual chamber pacemaker implantation and full heart cardiac catheterisation for diagnostic purposes.
- Cardiac imaging, including echocardiography, reading and interpretation of non-invasive cardiac procedures such as cardiac CT scans, MRI heart scans.
- Other non-invasive cardiac procedures such as exercise stress testing and 24/48 hour ECG monitoring.
- LVAD (left ventricular assist device)

Bio
Dr Khan is a Cardiologist based at Ethekwini Hospital and Heart Centre in Durban, KZN since 2011. He graduated from Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine in 1995, where he obtained his MBChB degree.
He then obtained his FCP through the of Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in 2007 and went on to complete in Fellowship in Cardiology where he obtained his Certificate of Cardiology in 2010. He is passionate about being in the field of cardiology where science and humanity converge and offers his patients his extensive knowledge with empathy and care, whether diagnosing a rare arrhythmia or comforting a patient facing a life altering diagnosis, every action is imbued with both clinical expertise and emotional intelligence.
His special interests include interventional cardiology performing advanced cardiac procedures, including single and multi-vessel stenting/bifurcation lesions, rotablation of calcified vessels, single/dual chamber pacemaker implantation and full heart cardiac catherisation for diagnostic purposes. Cardiac imaging, (echocardiograms and interpretation of CT and MRI scans of the heart), Non-invasive cardiac procedures such as exercise stress testing and 24/48 hour ECG monitoring. Work up of patients with Valvular or other structural heart disease, and heart failure management.
He is also part of the first highly skilled LVAD (left ventricular assist device) team, in KZN, used in the treatment of patients with heart failure or awaiting heart transplant.
Dr Khan is a dedicated Cardiologist that requires not just medical proficiency but also genuine compassion.
