Dr Dr Sizwe Mthiyane is an interventional cardiologist by training. He completed his cardiology training at
Universitas Hospital, University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, in 2015. Thereafter, he joined the practice
of Dr Mpe Inc at Mediclinic Pretoria Heart Hospital between 2015 and 2019, where he continued to
advance his skills in interventional and general cardiology. During this time, he was instrumental in
opening the first Cardiac Centre in Limpopo. He further resuscitated the cardiac unit Krugersdorp,
Gauteng. He was part of the pioneering team that opened the first interventional cardiac centre in
Soweto. From 2019, he started the first interventional cardiac unit in Northern KwaZulu-Natal at Richards
Bay Hospital, which was a resounding success and established a full cardiac centre and offering for the
population of Northern KwaZulu-Natal. He has continued to develop his skills in interventional
cardiology, including chronic total occlusion percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), complex PCIs,
and rotary and orbital atherectomies. Holistic care of the cardiac patient is his passion, encompassing
preventative cardiology, early diagnosis and management, complex cardiac procedures, and rehabilitative
cardiology. Dr. Mthiyane has now joined the Lenmed Ethekwini Hospital & Heart Centre team, bringing his
expertise to enhance our patient care services.
