Dr Theshenthree Govender is a psychiatrist with over two decades of medical experience. She graduated
in 1999 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and also holds a Diploma in Child
Health. She completed her specialist training in psychiatry at the Nelson R. Mandela School of Medicine
and is a Fellow of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (FC Psych (SA)).
Dr Govender served in the Department of Psychiatry at King Edward VIII Hospital from 2007 to 2008
before establishing her private practice at Lenmed Ethekwini Hospital and Heart Centre in 2008. She
provides comprehensive psychiatric assessment and evidence-based treatment for adolescents and
adults, with a focus on delivering compassionate, patient-centred care.
Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Govender has contributed to the training of future doctors as a
part-time lecturer at the Nelson R. Mandela School of Medicine. She was actively involved in advancing
mental healthcare through her role on the executive committee of the South African Society of
Psychiatrists (SASOP) KwaZulu-Natal branch and serves on several advisory boards and multidisciplinary
hospital committees.
Dr Govender is committed to promoting mental wellness, reducing stigma surrounding mental illness,
and providing holistic, collaborative care tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
