Lenmed Celebrates Excellence at Second Annual Celebrity of the Year Gala Event
Johannesburg, South Africa – May 2025 — Lenmed is proud to announce the return of one of its most meaningful internal traditions — the second annual Celebrity of the Year Gala Event, held on 16 May 2025. This flagship celebration honours the everyday heroes who embody the heart, soul, and values of the Lenmed team.
Launched in 2022, the Celebrity of the Year recognition programme has become a cornerstone of Lenmed’s people strategy—driving employee engagement, strengthening organisational culture, and shining a spotlight on the powerful human stories behind exceptional healthcare delivery.
Each month, 18 Lenmed hospitals and the Head Office nominate one outstanding individual — someone who consistently lives out Lenmed’s core values: Caring, Serving, Growing, Collaborating, Innovating, and Delivering. From these monthly champions, each hospital selects a Hospital Employee of the Year, celebrating their impact and unwavering commitment.

The programme proudly includes outsourced service partners, such as cleaning staff, security teams, and catering personnel—recognising that excellence in healthcare is a collective effort. These team members play a vital role in creating safe, healing, and compassionate environments across all Lenmed facilities.
“This event is one of the highlights of our year—not because of its glamour, but because of its meaning,” said Amil Devchand, Lenmed Group CEO. “It’s a reminder that our greatest strength lies in the people who walk our hospital corridors each day. Those who lead with compassion, show up with integrity, and live our values in ways both big and small. They are the heartbeat of Lenmed— this event is their night and we are shining the spotlight on our people who make Lenmed great.”
Led by Bhavani Jeena, Head of People and Culture, and supported by the Executive Leadership Team, the event is attended by hospital CEOs, People & Culture Business Partners, nominees’ managers, and senior leaders—affirming its importance across the organisation.
This year’s gala was more than a celebration—it was a reflection of Lenmed’s growing culture of purpose, unity, and recognition. As Lenmed continues to build healthier, more prosperous communities across Africa, one truth remains clear:
Our people are our greatest asset. And this event is for them.
Because at Lenmed, excellence is personal—and recognition is purposeful.
