The Bank Hospital makes history with first private kidney transplant surgery in Ghana

January 2024 — Lenmed managed, The Bank Hospital, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first private hospital to successfully conduct a kidney transplant surgery in Ghana.

Dr. Charlotte Osafo, Medical Director of The Bank Hospital, led the team of medical experts comprising nephrologists and a group of transplant surgeons from India. The technique used on the donors was laparoscopic surgery, commonly referred to as keyhole surgery. This cutting-edge surgical technique is minimally invasive, meaning it eliminates the need for extensive skin incisions during surgery.
