Lenmed expands its footprint in Mozambique by acquiring majority stakes in Beira Private Hospital and Clínica Sorridente
May 2023 – Lenmed recently acquired 60% of Beira Private Hospital and Clínica Sorridente in Mozambique, expanding its footprint to 18 Hospitals, spanning 4 countries across the African continent now under its leadership.
This endeavour is aligned with Lenmed’s mission to provide access to quality and personalised healthcare to the communities in which it operates – in this instance, this means that the people of Beira, and the broader Sofala Province will benefit positively. By collaborating with the local medical community, Lenmed will be able to build on and improve the service offering of the hospital, which was founded in 2020.
Considering this new acquisition, Amil Devchand, Group CEO shared; “Beira Private Hospital and Clínica Sorridente represent a new growth chapter for the Lenmed Group and its operations in Mozambique. Beira Private Hospital, supported by Clínica Sorridente, offers a wide range of specialist medical, maternity and surgical services. The institutions boast fully enabled and equipped emergency medicine, inpatient, theatre, ICU, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy and occupational health offerings and facilities. These services now form part of the work that Lenmed is known for and has proudly carved out over its 38 years of existence.
