Lenmed Ethekwini Hospital And Heart Centre maintains diamond status recognition from World Stroke Organisation
November 2023 – Lenmed Ethekwini Hospital and Heart Centre is proud to announce that it has once again received the prestigious Diamond Status award from the World Stroke Organisation (WSO).
The Diamond Status is the highest accolade in the tiers that recognise hospitals that consistently meet and exceed the WSO’s stringent criteria for stroke treatment and patient care. For hospitals to qualify for the WSO Angels Awards programme, awards are calculated quarterly and the level achieved depends on the patient outcomes in the last three months. So far this year, the Ethekwini Hospital and Heart Centre received awards for three consecutive quarters (Q1, Q2 and Q3) with the receipt of one Platinum Status and two Diamond Status awards for its dedication to delivering world-class stroke care services and having established cultures and systems to support continuous improvement.
This recent accolade brings the number of awards received by the health facility since 2022 to five.
“We are honoured to once again receive the Diamond Status award from the World Stroke Organisation,” said CEO, Amil Devchand. “This achievement truly speaks to our intent to consistently strive for excellence in stroke care and underscores the hospital and the numerous healthcare professionals’ commitment to delivering exceptional stroke care, ultimately benefiting the health and well-being of the community it serves,” he added.
Acknowledging the efforts of the healthcare professionals and support staff for the recent success, Hospital CEO, Niresh Bechan shares;
“This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team and clinician community, who go above and beyond to ensure the well-being of stroke patients.”
Ethekwini Hospital and Heart Centre is one of Lenmed’s centres of excellence and an ultra-sophisticated and digitally integrated hospital north of Durban boasting an extensive and leading adult and paediatric cardiac and cardiothoracic service offering.
