The Thembisa Mile, Presented by Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital Celebrates a 2025 Success
Thembisa, Johannesburg, October 2025 – Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital proudly celebrated the success of the 2025 Thembisa Mile, held on Sunday, 26 October 2025 at the Olifantsfontein Sports Ground. As the presenting sponsor of this year’s event, the hospital played a pivotal role in making the race the biggest and most memorable in its history.
The 2025 edition of the Thembisa Mile drew an enthusiastic crowd of over 3953 runners and walkers, an increase from the previous year’s sold-out field of 3000 participants. The race once again featured the iconic 1 Mile challenge and the popular 10km road race, attracting elite athletes, recreational runners, families, and fitness enthusiasts from across the province.
“This year’s Thembisa Mile was truly special. The incredible turnout and the vibrant energy on race day showed what’s possible when a community comes together,” said Donald Mathipa, Founder of the Thembisa Mile. “We are especially grateful to Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital for stepping in as the presenting sponsor. Their investment has allowed us to expand the event and further our mission of building the premier road running experience in our township.”

As in previous years, proceeds from the race will benefit the Thembisa Athletic Club’s annual December training camp, which supports 68 junior, youth, and sub-youth athletes in preparing for the upcoming competitive season. This initiative remains a cornerstone of the event’s commitment to nurturing future champions.
The 2025 Thembisa Mile once again proved to be more than a race; it was a celebration of community, fitness, and opportunity, reinforcing its place as a signature event on the regional sporting calendar.
