Lenmed Acute Rehabilitation Centre Celebrates One Year of Restoring Lives and Independence
January 2026 – Lenmed Health is proud to celebrate the first anniversary of its Acute Rehabilitation Centre, marking a year of transformative care, recovery, and renewed independence for patients and their families.
Since opening its doors on 6 January 2025, when the centre welcomed its very first patient admission, the Acute Rehabilitation Centre has grown into a vital component of Lenmed’s patient recovery pathway. Over the past year, the centre has steadily increased patient occupancy, reflecting the growing demand for specialised rehabilitation services and the trust placed in Lenmed by patients, families, and referring clinicians.
In just twelve months, the centre has helped change the trajectory of recovery for over 300 patients, delivering excellent clinical and functional outcomes through a multidisciplinary approach focused on restoring independence, mobility, and quality of life.
“Rehabilitation is more than recovery – it is about helping patients reclaim their lives,” said Niresh Bechan, Hospital CEO at the rehabilitation centre. “Over the past year we have seen remarkable patient journeys, where individuals who arrived with significant functional challenges have progressed to regain independence, return home, and reconnect with their communities.”
The centre has also become a regional destination for specialised rehabilitation care, with patients travelling from across provincial borders, including the Eastern Cape, to access its comprehensive services.
The Lenmed Acute Rehabilitation Centre provides specialised, multidisciplinary care for patients recovering from a range of complex medical conditions and procedures, including: • Amputations

Through coordinated care delivered by a dedicated team of rehabilitation doctors, therapists, nurses, and support staff, the centre focuses on maximising functional recovery, improving mobility, and enabling patients to return to daily life with confidence and dignity.
As the centre marks its first anniversary, Lenmed celebrates not only a milestone in service delivery, but also the many lives that have been positively changed through rehabilitation and compassionate care.
